WINTERS Water Leak Detection Sensor - LPDA1 & LPDA2
Specifications
Details
WINTERS LPDA1 and LPDA2 water leak detection sensors provide early warning of water leakage in data centres, server rooms, mechanical rooms and other critical industrial areas. The cable-type sensing system monitors vulnerable zones and can transmit alarms to local or remote monitoring systems before water reaches valuable equipment.

Water Leak Detection for Critical Facilities
Water leakage from chilled-water pipes, cooling equipment, condensate drains, tanks or process services can damage electrical systems and interrupt operations. A sensing cable can be routed along pipework, around equipment, below raised floors or across other risk zones to provide continuous leak monitoring.
WINTERS LPDA1 and LPDA2 Model Selection
| Model | Detection Type | Power Supply | Outputs and Integration | Installation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LPDA1 | Non-location type - confirms that water is present within the monitored cable zone. | 12/24 VDC standard; 12/24 VAC option stated in the product brochure. | Relay output with audible alarm; selectable normally open or normally closed contact for third-party monitoring and HVAC control systems. | Fixed enclosure with mounting holes; customizable sensing-cable configurations. |
| LPDA2 | Positioning type - detects water and indicates where leakage has occurred along the sensing cable. | 9-36 VDC standard; 24 VAC optional. | LED display, relay, audible alarm and RS485 communication for remote monitoring or HVAC/BMS integration. | 35 mm DIN-rail mounting; sensing cable configurable up to 200 m according to the brochure. |
Key Features
- Continuous cable-type water leakage monitoring across defined risk zones.
- Fast local alarm and remote alarm signalling through relay contacts.
- LPDA2 leak-location indication and RS485 communication for integrated monitoring.
- Operating conditions from -30°C to 60°C and 10-80% RH, non-condensing.
- ABS and PC housing with sensing cable manufactured from Teflon, conductive polyethylene and alloy conductors.
- CE-certified product options.
Typical Applications
- Data centres, server rooms and computer rooms
- Mechanical rooms, chilled-water systems and HVAC plant areas
- Raised floors, basements and pipe stacks
- Refrigeration and cold-storage facilities
- Water tanks, pump stations, cooling towers and water towers
- Electrical houses, control rooms and other areas where leakage may damage equipment
System Integration
The LPDA1 relay contact can be connected to an alarm panel, PLC, building management system (BMS) or HVAC control platform. For applications that require leak-position information and digital communications, the LPDA2 provides an LED display, relay output, audible alarm and RS485 interface.
Selection and Installation Notes
Select the model according to whether zone-level detection or precise leak-location indication is required. Sensing-cable length, lead-out cable and accessories should be confirmed for each application. Route the sensing cable away from sharp objects, high-voltage equipment, strong magnetic fields and sources of condensation that may create false alarms. Inspect and clean the cable periodically; the LPDA1 manual recommends servicing at least every six months.
Available documents: LPDA1 product brochure, LPDA1 instruction and maintenance manual, and LPDA2 product brochure.
